The Official Southern Guides™

The Southern Culture Authority

Books about how the South actually works.
Casseroles, cocktails, committee meetings, Christmas lights. The maid saw everything. Somebody is writing it down.

The Official Guide to Southern Celebrations

A year in the South, one holiday at a time. New Year's Eve through Christmas Eve, with a stop at Mardi Gras, Easter brunch, the Fourth of July flag cake that almost ruined a marriage, hurricane season, SEC Saturdays, Thanksgiving seating charts negotiated like peace treaties, and the gift closet of a woman in Oxford, Mississippi who has not stood in line at a retail counter in thirty years.
Twelve chapters. Eleven women. One maid who has been watching all of it since before they were born.
Manuscript complete. Currently in submission to publishers.

The Official Guide to Southern Supper Clubs

The second title in the Culture Collection. A handbook for the South's most exclusive dining tradition, where the guest list is a ranking system, the menu is a weapon, and the coordinator who loses control of the shrimp guy in February is still being talked about in October.
In development.

The Culture Collection

Books about the rules nobody wrote down. The ones you learn by being there, or you don't.
Celebrations and Supper Clubs are the first two titles in an ongoing series from The Southern Culture Authority. More forthcoming.
